Our Beloved Illinois Governor
<Rant>
OK, one of the best things about living in the United States, of course, is our freedoms. The second best thing has to be the whole innocent until proven guilty concept. So, yes, the recent scandal with our Illinois governor calls for us to
wait until he has his day in court and is declared guilty… or innocent.
However, and this is a big however, however! Where there is smoke there is fire. While I admit I do not have complete faith in our government’s ability to do much of anything, I think common sense tells us that the FBI would not have moved on Blagojevich if they didn’t have a strong case. They took him down and into custody because they have little doubt they will prevail in court. They didn’t even allow him to surrender! They went to house not far from my own at 6am in the morning!
The utter arrogance of this man is simply beyond words. The day before he was arrested, he was on television saying that he has nothing to hide so go ahead and tape him. Are you serious? He truly believed that he was above the law. For that alone he is guilty in my eyes. As a governor, he was to serve the people of my state, not his own desires or his wife’s. And don’t even get me started on her. Patti knew exactly what was going on and participated. It will be interesting to see if she folds and leaves him in order to save herself.
A photographer caught him coming out the back of his house next to this picture… the one with the rat. I have one of these in my alley, too, and this picture with his head next is so telling. Fascinating.
