For the Superficial-Gals who have something to Hide
If you have had the total pleasure of seeing me in person, you know that, much to my daily dismay, I do not have what you would call “high quality skin.” I just don’t and never have. It has gotten better as I’ve gotten older but I still have frequent breakouts on my chin – fortunately rarely on any other areas, just mainly on my chin. Regardless of the cleanser I use or moisturizer or other supposed blemish miracle fix, the breakouts still frequently occur. So, my weapon of choice has always been concealor, which, you guessed it, will cover up those areas as best as makeup-possible.
Even at my young age, cough-cough, I have managed to use too many concealing products to count, from drugstore-cheap to department-store-expensive. And through the years, I’ve never been loyal to any one brand or product until the last couple of years when I happened on the Bare Escentuals craze via their mini-infomercials. Now it’s all I use. If you are not familiar with Bare Escentuals , it’s mineral powder that you apply with a big, fluffy brush. (I use my own brushes and haven’t purchased their brushes.) There are times when I use it – the SPF 15 Foundation – all over my face, and other times I just place directly on my blemishes. It covers and blends flawlessly, and all without it looking like I have anything on my face. In addition, the built-in SPF 15 gives me fabulous and needed sun protection.
At $25 a pop at my local Ulta or Sephora (never-ever any specials or coupons), it’s not inexpensive and doesn’t necessarily last a long time (6-8 weeks if I’m lucky), but gosh-darnnit, the stuff really works. And, thus, I keep buying it and recommend it to you if you’re like me and have something to hide.

I also love Bare Escentuals. I use the foundation to cover problem spots, and then apply the mineral veil – it somehow makes my skin look healthier. I was sucked in by the infomercial, but I don’t dare buy anything from those as I know I will not be able to stop because I am so gullible. Also, common sense sets in…seriously, would I ever have a spill big enough to require a Sham-Wow? If I buy the P90X system, am I really going to exercise every day and end up looking like the people on TV? And it is really possible to get rid of scratches on my car with a magic marker? Anyway, back to the point …then one day my friend – whose skin somehow suddenly looked flawless – highly recommended Bare Escentuals to me so I rushed out to Ulta, and now I am forever hooked (well, at least for now).
