I am Thankful
This Ramadan, only my second as a Muslim, has really truly special. I’m making it through the fasting part (as I hear my belly rumble) and working on the prayer part (as I repeat in my mind over and over the small part of a surah I’m trying to learn). This past weekend we were at a family get together to break fast (iftar) after sunset and ended up staying awake and together until near dawn the next morning. We played games, talked, and then ate breakfast together to prepare ourselves for another day of fasting. It was a really special time as I truly love my husband’s family and feel so thankful and blessed for their acceptance and tolerance of me. I know that not all mixed-race marriages have this, so it is indeed one of the many things I am thankful for this Ramadan.
