Happy 13th Birthday Poem
Let’s see… will this be a mushy or silly rhyme
So I can try and embarrass Noah yet one more time
Do you remember his year 11 poem when I told you about the handcuffs tale?
And what about the year 12 poem when ‘holla’ was what I would yell
Now here we are on year 13
And for once I’m going to say what I mean
I promise to make it fast
Because I know you’re in a hurry to start class
Thirteen years ago this morning your dad and I woke up late
We had to be at the hospital at 8
It was the day we were going to meet you
And still we hit ‘snooze’
But let me get on with the story
After some pain and needles and ice chips
There you were in all your naked glory!
‘A boy’ the doctor screamed. And then I went to sleep.
Now you’re running up and down the court
Basketball which no doubt is your favorite sport
You can always hear us yell “No dinner for you!”
If you don’t make the shot
Everyone thinks we’re kidding but we’re not
To close I’m going to steal from your year 11 and 12 rhymes – Are you ready?
All the girls need to know that you’re still mine – Holla!
Oh, and with God as your ultimate guide and us by your side
And when you give everything your very best try
You can still move mountains and touch the stars in the sky
Happy 13th Birthday Noah,
Love Mom
