Get-Healthy-Life Shopping List

December 14, 2009

In my Change is Coming post, I mentioned that I’m working to gather the necessary tools so that I can be all set up begin my Healthy Life by eating better foods, being consistently active, and being accountable. Makes sense – I simply want to remove the potential excuses before they even have the chance to develop.

My past change attempts have involved jumping in feet first without thinking the plan through and not having the necessary ingredients to be successful. Instead of following in order what I believe to be the 6 steps to change (that’s another upcoming post), I glossed over a few steps and completely skipped over others only to be pretty much right back where I started – unchanged.

So, this time around, an enormous amount of time is being invested in reflection, envisioning my Healthy Life, and preparing the map and directions to get there. I’ll keep you posted on my preparations!

On my get-Healthy-Life shopping list:

Tape Measure ($3 or Free) – I think I’ve got one of these somewhere around here already

Pedometer ($15-$25) – Goal is 10k steps a day

Blender/Mixer ($15-$25) – Add fresh/frozen fruit to yogurt for lightning-quick morning/evening smoothies. May also get one to keep in my work’s kitchen.

OsoLean Powder (TBD) – Natural protein powder that I’ll add to food or smoothies

Me Contract (Free and In Progress) – My personal contract that specifically outlines my commitment to living a Healthy Life – 12/29/09 Update: See the Me Contract here

Family Contract (Free and In Progress) – Contract signed by my husband that outlines his needed behavior to help me be successful. He’s going to love this.

Rebounder ($100-$150) – Not required! This is an affordable piece of exercise equipment that Beverly uses and highly recommends to me. I can keep it set up in my bedroom in front of the television, exercise (aka move) and get my DVR-watching in. And a bonus that this counts toward my daily 10k steps! 12/29/09 Update: My fabulous husband bought me the Wii EA Sports Active, set up the Wii in our bedroom, and I love it! It will be my prime source of exercise – especially for some time in the frigid Chicago weather.

Food Log (Free) – BIWI – Bite it, Write it 12/29/09 Update: See the Bite it, Write it Log

Web Camera (This is my husband’s department) – More on this to come! And, honey, this is why you should read my blog so you know what I need!!
