25 in 2011
Who needs a good-intentioned but short-lived New Year’s resolution (right?!) when instead you can have a goal that is purposely designed to take you the entire year to accomplish! If you like to read as much as I do, I have one for you.
Read 25 books in 2011
(I thought to make my goal 30, but a cool coin of 25 sounds better to me. And, because I’m a math whiz, that’s a book about every 2 weeks.)
Blessedly I am on the literate side of the coin (unlike Pakistan’s women whose literacy rate is a sad 40% and India’s 51% – compared to 99% in the United States) and have enjoyed reading since I was very young. There’s just nothing like getting lost in a good book and learning something or a lot. So, in 2011, I’ll be reading, reading, reading, and, for the first time, actually will be tracking the books that I finish.
I can guarantee two things – One, I’m going to hit that goal, and, two, I will not be writing a book review on each book! Other than that, I’ll randomly do blog updates after I’ve read a few or several or ten. Oh, and I do enjoy all sorts of books - fiction, non-fiction, spirtitual, money management, etc. – so there is sure to be variety in my 25.
It’s already January 8, so, I’ll wish you a nice weekend. I’m gonna go read! (…..and take a nap)
*Now admit it, you thought I was going to lose 25 pounds in 2011. Ha! Fooled ya!

Admirable goal! I can’t get any pleasure reading done at all. With all the work related reading — just doesn’t seem to leave any time. Maybe I should start with a smaller more reachable goal. I do miss reading books off my list!
I can only imagine how hard it is for you, as a teacher, to fit in “pleasure reading.” I’ve had a recent first-hand look at just how tough it is to be a teacher. I admire you
Welll! I can go for this kinda goal over 25 lbs.!!! I’m on book #3 this year..is it weird to have more than 1 book going at a time? I got the new John Stewart ‘earth’ book for xmas…I read a chapter or so every few days! This week I’m on Kathy Reichs (Bones) and I have a different Philippa Gregory next!
Well, you are weird but not because of that. Ha! Love you sis! I have 2 books going, so I know what you mean…. A finance book and a Philippa Gregory! (Is this the first time you read her? Do you like her? I really do because I enjoy learning about that time in history.)

Well, as my mother, I wish there was a way for me to put your comment alllll the way at the top of this list! But I don’t think I can. Or don’t know how to.
Yes, thank you very much for the reading gene you gave both Barb and me! It’s served me well.
Enjoy that warm weather and we’ll see you in February!
