Compromise
Compromise. Who really likes to compromise? It means that you have to give up what you really want. And who wants to do that? Not me. I want what I want and that’s it. And then I got married and am still married and in order to remain married, I compromise every day. So does he. The key is to wisely pick the battles because just as in our day-to-day work, not every single thing can be a priority. Well, I’ve picked a particular battle that we’ve had a hard time seeing eye-to-eye on, but thankfully, we’ve worked through it and have agreed – with both of us kicking and screaming for different reasons – on a compromise. It’s not really what either of us fully wants, but, I have to admit, the compromise does favor me in the end. So, I’m breathing a sigh of relief that an end is in sight. We did compromise, and I’m happy that we did.

Recipe: Mashed Cauliflower
I’m still recovering from the fact that my husband loved this dish last night. I didn’t tell them what it was until he had taken several bites. Being on this path to healthy living, I’ve been doing a lot of reading and research about food so I know that potatoes are on the bad side of carbohydrates. And, this isn’t easy for me to acknowledge because they are probably my very first food-love being a meat-and-potatoes type of girl.
Because he liked the Mashed Cauliflower, it’s not too bad that only 1 out of the 3 kids liked them too. Add my thumbs up to the mix for a 3 out of 5 in favor, and I’ll defintly be making these again soon. I encourage you to give them a try – they’re easy and healthy. And it’s a guarantee at least a few in your family will like them. Read more…
10 Things I want you to know about Islam
Converting to Islam over two years ago after being raised Protestant, I have a unique perspective on why many non-Muslims fear Islam. After all, it is human nature to fear the unfamiliar.
I have not yet written my conversion story or testimony as a Christian would refer to it, but it’s being written line-by-line in my mind for a while now and one day I’ll put it all down. For now, I’d like to introduce my non-Muslim friends and readers to basic Islamic concepts so that… Read more…

Funky-Veggie: Radicchio
So, I ventured out of the veggie-norm of corns and peas to try radicchio [rah-DEE-kee-oh] which is also known as chicory. Kind and helpful Brian at Produce Express in the newly opened downtown Chicago French Market pronounced radicchio perfectly and advised that it is good roasted and grilled. In addition to… Read more…
Talk to me Sugar – Why your Blood Sugar Level is so important
On this path to a healthy life, I’m reading and listening to all things health – all of my Tweeter friends (shout out to the mamavation ladies), SparkPlug articles, the Dr Oz show, my fat loss program’s Beverly Monical of totalwellnesstv.com and fitness-guru Melissa Bierman – and while it certainly can be overwhelming at times, my wellness education level has increased dramatically. And now I believe that paying special attention to my blood sugar can really help me lose this weight and contribute to my healthy life.
Let me give you a quick and easy run-down of what I’ve learned…. Read more…
The Path
No one can argue that I have been a bit cranky and not my usual cheery self the last two weeks. (God bless my husband, who is never 100% right, but certainly doesn’t deserve my bitchiness.) Long story short… Read more…
